TAG - You’re it!

I was so wonderfully tagged by my friend, Karly, (go check out her blog – she’s great!) in a post a few days ago (ok, 10 days!) I’m glad because she finally gave me something to blog about again. I know. I’ve been horrible at keeping this updated. I promise I’ll try hard!

RULES:

1. post these rules.
2. post a photo of yourself and 11 random things.
3. answer the questions set for you in the original post.
4. create 11 new questions and tag people to answer them.
5. go to their blog and tell them they've been tagged.

11 RANDOM THINGS

1. I’m supposed to be finishing an Argument paper on Bride Wealth that’s due next week. I haven’t touched it for a month now. I probably won’t touch it until the day it’s due.

2. I love being married. Especially to Dallas. It still feels like we aren’t married “yet”. Just a couple living together. I’m sure that will change in the future, but it’s complete bliss.

3. My parents and sister are right now on a plane to come see me. I’m excited to see them. Not excited to be their tour guide. Yes, I want to see the world, but I want to live IN it and experience it, not go sightseeing. Too many tourists.

4. I just asked Dallas what some random facts about me were. He answered with “You’ve had skin cancer and weird bruises on your legs.” Thanks, Dallas. Thanks.

5. My current “filler” t.v. show (the one that I watch to fill my void while I’m waiting for new episodes of t.v. shows I’m caught up to..)is How I Met Your Mother. The 5th season is kind of sucking in my opinion.

6. I have a love/hate relationship with the company Dallas works for. I love that we make a good income and get to travel the world. I hate that you don’t know that you are moving until MAYBE a month before the fact and have to leave all the friends you just made.

7. I sell Scentsy and LOVE Scentsy. (They’re coming out with Velata soon, which is chocolate fondue that I will ALSO be selling!). I just suck at the selling part because I’m not much of an “in your face” about buying my products type of person. So I mostly sell to myself!! It’s the same with Melaleuca. LOVE it. But hate being a salesman. So if you want some – ask!!!

8. I hate cooking dinner. I didn’t realize how much I hated it until I was married. It’s a miracle if I make something for dinner at all. It’s even more of a miracle if it’s not a crockpot dinner.

9. I LOVE to babysit. Love it. (Probably stems from the fact that I want lots of my own kids!!). If you need a babysitter, seriously call me up. I’ll say yes even if I’m swamped. That’s how much I love it.

10. I get my Associate’s Degree in July. I’m stoked. More for the fact that I can stop going to school for a little while (especially stopping the online classes! Those are brutal!). It may sound lazy, but I’ve been going to school non-stop my whole life. (Seriously- graduated high school early so I could go to college early. I think there was a whole 3 weeks I wasn’t in school between the two. On track, off track – I just want that degree!)

11. I’m extremely frugal. Sometimes maybe even for my own good. Actually, Dallas and I both are this way. We never buy anything. But then when we do, we splurge (like the cruise). So maybe it evens out?

QUESTIONS FOR ME:

1. What is one talent that you have but usually keep to yourself?

There are two. The first is that I’m extremely musically inclined, all thanks to my mother (“You can’t quit piano until you can play all the hymns in the hymnbook!”). I don’t tell people because I’m not a fan of “sharing” this talent with others, i.e. playing in sacrament meeting, at a concert, or any other event where people will hear me. I get too nervous. The other is that I can sew. I always feel like I’m worse than I really am at it, so I don’t like people knowing I can so I won’t mess up any of their sewing projects.

2. What was one of your favorite Halloween costumes you've ever worn?

A clock. I was 5 or 6 and my mom claims I wanted to be that so bad, but I have no memory of it.

3. What's the last dream that you remember having?

Not a good one. I’ve been having lots of nightmares lately. This one involved some unsettled events I’ve been through. I won’t go into details.

4. Have you ever met a celebrity?

Thomas S. Monson. Also, The entire Beckham family (yes, David, Victoria, and all their boys) – but I wouldn’t exactly say I “met” them. We ran into them last time I went to Disneyland and my mom stalked them for a while trying to get a picture.

5. Favorite EXOTIC animal?

Koala Bears. Hands down.

6. Favorite high school memory?

*shudder* High school. I like to suppress my high school memories…

7. What is your dream job?

Anthropologist. Oh to travel the world and live in/study all the different cultures. What a dream come true.

8. Favorite TV show growing up?

Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

9. Do you love mini cadburry eggs as much as I do?

Let’s just say we bought a few (or maybe more…) bags the other day, and Dallas came home from work upset that I had eaten them all.

10. Can you hula hoop?

Sorta. Not really. I haven’t tried in a long time. I wasn’t great then, either.

11. Why do you blog?

It started out because it was the “cool” thing to do. I still do it in the hopes that one day I’ll do something special that will make everyone want to read my blog and become famous through blogging. Long shot though.

1. What is the last thing you watched on t.v.?

6. Worst place you have ever been to?

7. Favorite SNL skit?

8. What would you do for a Klondike bar?

Royal Caribbean

In a last minute decision and very lucky huge price drop, Dallas and I have booked a cruise to go on!!!! I’m so stinkin excited for this, too. We’ve been looking into going on a cruise pretty much since the moment we got to Louisiana, but the prices were just too expensive for us and we just weren’t willing to spend a lot on a cruise. About a month ago, we finally gave up trying to find one and just settled on going on one later in life when we have more money.

Two events changed that decisions. The first was going to lunch with a whole bunch of friends on Monday. One of our friends, Karissa, went on a cruise about a month ago and was singing praises beyond praises about it. We got to talking about it and she explained to me a lot of the ins and outs on the cruise she went on. She got me super excited and wanting to go on one again before our time in Louisiana was up.

The next day, Dallas texted me from work saying he got a phone call from Carnival Cruise lines. One of the cruises we had looked into a month ago had dropped significantly in price and they were wondering if we wanted to book. That sparked my interest even more. So I got online and began comparing cruises and cruise lines.

I found a 7 day Western Caribbean cruise leaving at the PERFECT time for only about $30 more than the 5-day we had been looking into. Then, I found another 7-day – exact same everything on a different cruise line. So the final question was Carnival or Royal Caribbean? After about 30 minutes of research and multiple facebook comments on my status inquiring which was better – Royal Caribbean won out by a landslide. (Plus – they don’t require me to have my marriage license to board since I am “underage”. Carnival would’ve made me bring it.)

So – all ya’ll enjoying the STILL freezing cold weather back home can be jealous as Dallas and I enjoy some of this:

I. Can’t. Wait.

My wonderful life

  • I’m grateful for an absolutely loving, adoring, caring, selfless husband. Even when things are rough, he never gets upset or frustrated with me – he’s always more understanding than I could ever possibly ask and is quite literally willing to go to then ends of the earth for me.
  • I’m grateful for the job that wonderful husband has; a job that enables us both to continue our schooling debt-free and allow us to live comfortably for our needs without a need for me to work.
  • I’m grateful for the power of attending the temple and for availability of a near-by temple for us to attend regularly.
  • I’m grateful for the friends we both have – whether here in Louisiana, back in Idaho, or anywhere else around the world. Friends who are so kind to us and always there when we need them.
  • I’m grateful for the marriage covenant that allows Dallas and I to be sealed for all time and eternity and helps us both to be much better people knowing that our love is eternal.
  • I’m grateful for family- immediate, extended, in-laws, adopted, or otherwise – family that is there for us 24/7, giving us love, support, advice, and hope.
  • I’m grateful for our car. Even though it hardly gets used, I’m glad we have it for whenever we need transportation.
  • I’m grateful for the opportunity we have to move all around the world. Though it scares the crap out of me some days and I just want to go home, it’s really actually been a dream of mine all my life and I’m glad I get to experience it with my best friend.
  • I’m grateful for the gospel – for many many reasons, but especially now for it’s consistency, comfort, and friendships no matter where in the world I am.
  • I’m grateful for online schooling. Although I complain and mumble and become discouraged some weeks, I always make it through and am happy I am able to continue my education wherever I may be.
  • I’m grateful for my dear old roommates who will talk to me all the time, even at 2 am, about anything and everything.

I’m grateful for millions of other things as well, but this is all I have time for Smile
